This is the first of three learning sessions about gender barriers to immunization. This 1.5 hrs. webinar will provide participants with an understanding of key concepts of gender-related barriers such as gender versus sex, intersectionality, applying a “gender lens” to programming, and the gender continuum in programming, i.e., gender blind vs gender responsive vs gender transformative interventions. The webinar will include an interactive session with practical examples and case studies of the role that gender plays in communities, with examples of strategies that have been implemented in low- and middle-income countries to overcome social gender-related barriers to immunization.
Following this webinar series, participants will understand the importance of addressing gender inequity as part of health systems strengthening, through efforts at community level as well as in the organization of the health system. Participants will be encouraged to develop individual action plans for ensuring that a gender lens is applied to their own work.
